Spooky Candy Bars
You will need candy bars, white crepe paper strips, black construction paper, googly eyes, and tape or glue. For the mummy: Glue two googly eyes at the top of the candy bar, and wrap a white crepe-paper strip around it. Seal down on the back with tape.
For the bat: Cut out the shape of a bat from construction paper wide enough to hold a candy bar inside. Glue the bat shape to the back of a candy bar, wrap the wings of the bat around the candy …

The Artist Factory is a series of lectures and workshops that teach marketing and other business-related skills to Kanawha Valley artists, sculptors, and other creators.
The next session is “Approaching Galleries”, which will give practical advice for visual artists who are interested in getting their work put up in local, regional or national galleries.
The instructor for this lecture is Naomi Bays of the Arts Council of Kanawha Valley. The lecture will take place on the 17th of November from 6PM to 8PM, with the venue to be announced.

Taylor Books’ Annex Gallery will be exhibiting recent landscape paintings by artist David Berry. The new show is entitled “The Color of Influence”. The show runs through Nov. 10.
David Berry was born in Rochester, NY in 1951 and grew up in Pittsburgh PA. He earned a BA in Fine Arts from Roberts College in Rochester. He has lived in Morgantown for the past 10 years.

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History will hold a Halloween party on the 26th of October (Wednesday) from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The party will be held at the Culture Center.
The party is free and open to everyone. Refreshments will be served, and there are also plenty of fun activities for kids. Ghost stories from around the state will also be on display to provide creepy fun for all ages.

Prepare for the season and the holidays with April Hamilton and Luisa DiTrapano’s cooking classes at Ferguson’s on 160 Spring St.
Five classes will be offered in November and December, starting with April Hamilton’s “Weekend Kitchen” on November 8, 2011 at 6 o’clock in the evening. The fee for this class is $85. It is followed by Luisa DiTrapano’s 21st Century Thanksgiving” on November 15, also at 6pm and $85 class fee.

West Virginian Morgan Spurlock’s latest documentary, “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” continues to do well way beyond its January release.
The film is a tonge-in-cheek commentary on product placement, or the practice of indirect advertising by inserting products in film and television shots where the viewer can see them.
