Independence Day falls on a Wednesday this year, and though this presents an awkward holiday schedule, it’s definitely a welcomed weekday break.
There will be a celebration at the Haddad Riverfront Park on July 3rd, with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra performing a mix of classical, big band salutes and pop music. The free concert starts at 8pm, capping the night with a spectacular firework show.

The third annual BridgeFest is happening this Thursday, June 28, 2012. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of late Chef Robert Wong of the Bridge Road Bistro. Contributions are accepted at the main ticket tent for the Wong Scholarship Fund and the Breaking Bread at Christ Church United Methodist.
The event will feature live music from the Fort Hillbillies, the WV National Guard Climbing Wall, archery demonstration by Frank “The Aspirin Buster” Addington, Jr., and a silent auction hosted by Cottage Row Furniture.

Manna Meals partnered with the West Virginia Power Baseball to Hit HUnger Out of the Park on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
With their partnership, fifty-percent of the ticket sales from the Power will be donated to the soup kitchen. Ticket sales open at 7am, and closes at 2pm on Thursday. One ticket costs $7 for a reserved seat.
