The Charleston Stage Company will be staging its production of Sarah Ruhl’s “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” On February 18-20 and 25-27 next year. They will be holding auditions next week for actors to cast for next year’s show. Auditions will be held on December 13 and 14, 7pm at the WVSU Capitol Center Theatre, 123 Summers Street in Charleston. Four women and two men are needed.

Tim Mace directs this production dramatic comedy which focuses on the strange adventures of Jean, a woman who decides to answer the incessantly ringing cell phone of a man seated near her in a quiet cafe. Turns out he is dead — and his life has a lot of loose ends. The play is an odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about mortality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world. The New York Times called the play, “A beguiling comedy” and a “hallucinatory poetic fantasy that blends the mundane and the metaphysical.”
