November 19 is the date of Religious Coalition for Community Renewal’s (RCCR) annual Beans and Cornbread Dinner. The dinner is the organization’s annual fundraiser that benefits the Samaritan Inn, Smith Street Station and Jubilee Housing.
Initiated in 1996, the dinner does not require attendees to dress up. It is traditionally held on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, starting at 6pm, and usually ending after an hour. The first Big Bean Dinner was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. This year, it will be held at the Christ Church United Methodist.
Dinner for the 19th features brown beans, greens, cornbread, oven fried potatoes and delectable desserts, which will be up for silent auction.
Assitant to the Mayor of Charleston, Rod Blackstone, is the featured speaker for that night.
Tickets go for $60 (individuals) and $500 (corporate tables). For inquiries and reservations, call 304-346-6398.
