Three major college basketball games will be held at the Charleston Civic Center on 27 November 2010. Three Kanawha Valley universities – rivals West Virginia State and the University of Charleston, and West Virginia will all be playing home games on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Civic Center Triplefest will feature UC playing Bellarmine (Ky.) at 2 PM, WVSU against Virginia State at 4 PM, and VMI versus West Virginia at 7 PM on 27th November.
Triplefest tickets — priced at $27 (lower arena) and $15 (upper level), will include all three games, and WVU Deputy Athletic Director Mike Parsons said spectators are able to come and go through the Civic Center on the same ticket throughout the day.
State Coach Bryan Poore said his team and UC are enthused about working with WVU. They expect the three games to bring in a lot of fans and revenue for the universities involved in the event.
The three host schools have guaranteed football fans that there will be no conflicts with the university’s football games. WVU will have played at Pitt in the annual “Backyard Brawl” rivalry game the previous day. The West Virginia Conference football season will be completed before then.
