The Charleston Light Opera Guild starts the year with a winter staging of the popular opera, The Pirates of Penzance. This comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan tells the story of Frederic, who was apprenticed to a band of pirates, instead of being apprenticed to a pilot. This musical farce has been performed countless times in Broadway, garnering awards for Best Revival and Outstanding musical. The cast includes Gary Brown as the Pirate King, Marina Jurica as Mabel and Mark Hornbaker as Frederic.
Box office opened in January 20, and the show will be staged on January 29 – 31 and February 5 – 7. All shows are at 7:30pm, except for Sundays, when the shows are at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15 and there are no assigned seats. All performances will be held at the Guild theatre on 411 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, West Virginia.
