Charleston Stage Company and Festiv-All Present: “Sing-Along – Sound of Music”

Title: Charleston Stage Company and Festiv-All Present: “Sing-Along – Sound of Music”
Location: WVSU Capitol Center Theatre 123 Summers Street Downtown Charleston, WV (304) 342-6522
Description: Back by popular demand, Charleston Stage company and Festiv-All present Sing-Along-Sound of Music! Brush off your lederhosen and warm-up your yodel, this is your chance to test your vocal range with other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes.

The evening begins with a live warm-up in which your hosts will lead you through some quick vocal exercises and point out the best of the audience costumes. (Costumes are not compulsory but they are encouraged!) The hosts will then show you how to use your free goody bag throughout the film and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions (such as hissing the countess, barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Maria/Julie).

Then, you sit back and watch the original 1965 movie with the subtitled lyrics for all the songs on the screen, so you won’t miss a chance to sing your hearts out. The audience takes over as the star of the show from this point and almost anything can happen – the first rule of Sing-Along Sound of Music is THERE ARE NO RULES!

This is participatory theater at its finest, with moviegoers encouraged to come in costume. Cheer for the Von Trapp’s, boo the Nazi’s, and sing-along to all your favorite tunes. This is the perfect night out for families, co-workers, or anyone who’s ever shed a tear during “Edelweiss”!

This is a family friendly event. Run time for the movie is 3 hours, including warm-up approximately 3hours 15minutes.

Show is Friday, June 25, 7PM, at WVSU Capitol Center Theatre 123 Summers Street in downtown Charleston. Event is FREE. For more information call 304-342-6522 or 304-766-5721
