dogTo woof, or not to woof, that is the question. Move over, Lassie, Benji, Marley and Rin-Tin-Tin – a canine star may be born in Charleston.

On Saturday, September 12th at 1 PM in the WVSU Capitol Center Theatre (123 Summers St., Charleston), Charleston Stage Company will be auditioning dogs to play the part of “Crab” in their upcoming production of THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. That’s right, dogs. Humans need not apply.

“Crab” is a medium-to-large good-natured pooch who interacts with one of the characters in the play. Dogs will NOT be expected to read for the part, but they will be evaluated on the basis of training, obedience, and lack of stage fright.

THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA will be performed October 15-17 and 22-24. The dog who is cast as Crab will be expected to participate in some rehearsals and all performances. The play is being directed by KC Bragg. For more information, contact KC at 304-421-5252.
