Everything is all set for the fourth of July weekend in celebration of the nation’s independence. Haven’t got a clue where to celebrate this year? Here’s a couple of places you can check out around Charleston:
North Bend State Park in Cairo, WV
If you’re the outdoorsy-type, this is the place for you, as the park offers a range of activities for the whole family. Nature hikes, crafts, recreational activities and live music can be expected this weekend.
Liberty! at Point Pleasant, WV
Watch reenactors as they live through the days and events leading up to the nation’s independence. This is a great interactive way of learning history, with demonstrations, seminars, and tours of Fort Randolph at Krodel Park.
4th of July Parade at Point Pleasant, WV
In between reenactments, you can scuttle over to New Haven to watch the July 4th parade.
4th of July Celebrations at Ripley, WV
The USA’s largest small town independence celebration is packed with activities for all age groups this Saturday. Opening ceremonies happen at 10am on July 4th, followed by a grand parade at 12 noon. Entertainment showdowns happen in the afternoon, culminating with a concert of Grammy-award winning artist, Kathy Mattea, and a grand fireworks presentation.
Have a great independence day weekend!
