Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker

BalletCharleston is one of the three stops in West Virginia that the Moscow Ballet’s North American tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker will be performing in.

On December 15, the stage of the Municipal Auditorium of the Charleston Civic Center will be transformed into the whimsical world of this beloved Christmas tale. A cast of 40 classically trained ballet dancers from Russia will be performing, as has been tradition for the past 20 years.

In the Moscow Ballet’s staging, they follow Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite score, with the first act following the classic tradition and story line completely, and in the second act sees Clara and her Prince traveling to the Land of Peace and Harmony instead of visiting the Sugar Plum Fairy to fit with the show’s theme of international and cultural unity.

Tickets prices range from $27.50 to $48.00. They are available for purchase online through
