November Foodie Jaunts

St. John Greek Orthodox Church will hold its renowned Hellenic Night at 6:00 PM on 6th November at the University of Charleston’s Geary Ballroom. The evening features Greek food and music, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Dinner starts at 7:00 PM and dancing from 8:00 PM until midnight. Bridge Road Bistro on 915 Bridge Road will host a vodka and gin tasting event on 4th November 2010, featuring West Virginia-made Smooth Ambler Spirits. The event will start at 5:30 PM and wrap up at 7:00 PM. Admission to athe event is pegged at $29 per person (sales tax and service charge not included).

Vodkas will be paired with American sturgeon caviar on toasted brioche, blue point oysters on the half shell, and smoked salmon and cucumber crostini. Gins will be served with asiago stuffed new potatoes, smoked trout and apple relish crostini, and juniper berry glazed duck spring roll. A Thanksgiving Benefit Dinner to Aid the Homeless will be held from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM on 14th November 2010 at the Saint George Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston. Proceeds from the event will go to the YWCA Sojourner Shelter for Homeless Women and Families. The dinner will feature a traditional Thanksgiving feast as well as dancing and live music.
