The East End Family Resource Center’s Dip Dinner

Martin Luther King ArtWorking with Vista Workers Rick Goosman and Terry St. Germain, children in the after school program at the East End Family Resource Center (EEFRC) used their hands and fingers to create a piece of artwork in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

Looking closely at the painting, you’ll see each finger and handprint made by every child in the canvas. The painting will be on display at the 4th Annual Heart and Soul Dip Dinner on February 28, 2009 from 3 o’clock in the afternoon till six in the evening, at the Old Roosevelt Junior High School Building.

The Dip Dinner is an annual fund raiser for the EEFRC. For only fifty cents, attendees can buy tickets in exchange for various types of dips common in Afro-American cuisine. The money raised during this event will go to support the EEFRC’s many programs for youth, families and seniors.

The EEFRC is a non-profit organization funded by grants, donations and fund raisers. Donors include individuals, businesses, organizations and churches in the Charleston area. Donations can be monetary or various items and supplies to support programs such as free After School Care, Computer Lab, Music & Art Classes, Fatherhood Program, and the upcoming Senior Programs. Volunteers provide additional support in accomplishing our mission of “building bridges of opportunities” to the residents of Charleston.
