Chef Jamie Henderson and sous chef Roy Lynch will conduct 2-hour classes on Tailgate cooking (September 14), Fall favorites (October 12), How to cook a turkey (November 9) and Sweet treats (December 14). The first hour of the class will be for the lessons, while the 2nd hour for eating and discussion.

Each class cost $25 per person, and will be held at the Conference Center Atrium. The class will be limited to only 20 participants; reservations are a must. Call 888-262-7225, extension 148 for details and reservation.

Description: CHARLESTON–United Way’s annual Day of Caring event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 15. Day of Caring is a community-wide day of service. Volunteers from area businesses and organizations visit, assist, and complete projects at one of our community’s non-profit agencies or schools. Each agency submits requests for volunteer help on a broad variety of projects ranging from reading to children, repairing and painting agency offices, and planting gardens.

An 11 a.m. rally at the Charleston Civic Center will kick off the event, with volunteer service beginning at 1 p.m.
