Four Charleston WV establishments have been included in the Appalachian Regional Commission’s campaign, Bon Appetit! Bon Appalachia!, which aims to highlight the distinctly local food establishments in the Appalachian region.
Included are the Capitol Market (farmers market) on Smith Street, East End Bazaar (festival/event every weekend from April – October) and the Bluegrass Kitchen (farm to fork restaurant), and the Tricky Fish (farm to fork restaurant) on Washington St. East.
Resulting from a nomination period held in 2013, the Visit Appalachia is showcasing establishments from 13 states that comprise the Appalachian region. There are 283 establishments featured in the paper map available in tourism offices, and over 600 establishments in its website, visitappalachia.com/bonappetitappalachia. These establishments includes farmers markets, farm to fork restaurants, farm tours, festivals and events, vineyards and wineries, and craft breweries and spirits.
