One of the great things about the Charleston, West Virginia area is it’s proximity to wonderful hiking opportunities.
Whether you choose to stay local and hike in the Kanawha State Forest or Coonskin Park or Little Creek Park or you choose to go further and experience the areas around the New River in Fayetteville, or Beach Fork Park, there are hundreds of options to choose from.
If you are unfamiliar with the area and looking for friendly people to hike with, check out the Kanawha Trail Club. Every Sunday (and some Saturday’s), the members of the Kanawha Trail Club go on a hike. Each hike has a “long” version and a “short” version so they are accessible to all.
Whether you are 10 years old or 90 years old, the Kanawha Trail Club is a great way to meet new people, experience the outdoors and to really learn what makes West Virginia “almost heaven”
