La Bayadere, the ballet masterpiece of choreographer Marius Petipa, will be performed at the Charleston Civic Center Theater on March 7-8, 2014.
Known in English as The Temple Dancer, La Bayadere tells the love story of Nikiya and Solor, who have sworn eternal fidelity to each other. As great love stories goes, there are those who oppose the relationship, and other hindrances that brings tension between the two.
The story will be brought to life on stage by the Charleston Ballet dancers, with guest dancers from Radenko Pavlovich’s Columbia Classical Ballet of South Carolina.
This is a two-hour performance and will start at 7:30 pm on both dates.
