The Charleston Light Opera Guild brings to stage the comedy musical Sister Act at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theater this May.
The performances will be on May 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19, and 20. All performances will be at 7:30 pm, with the exception of the May 14th show, which will be a matinee at 2:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $25, available for purchase through the Guild’s website.
Sister Act follows the story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, who witnessed a murder and put into protective custody inside a convent. Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community.
The Charleston Light Opera Guild production features Leigh Peeler as Deloris, Ashley Dannewitz as Mother Superior, Philip Washington as Curtis, Kevin Hardy as Eddie, Bryan Archer as Monsignor O’Hara, Allison Whitener as Sister Mary Robert, Lauren Meyer as Sister Mary Patrick, and Stevie Brigode as Sister Mary Lazarus.
