What better bird to feature this month than the Wild Turkey? The Kanawha State Forest is hosting a program to educate the public about this fascinating creature.
Forest Naturalist Sara Miller and Master Naturalist Lynn Hartman will be sharing their knowledge and expertise on the wild turkey, discussing why their roost high in the trees, communicate with clucks and purrs, and what constitute their diet.
Apart from the talk, there will also be turkey crafts. This is a free event and everybody’s invited to participate!
The Bird of the Month program is on November 17, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Kanawha State Forest swimming pool building. The state park is located at 7500 Kanawha State Forest Drive, Charleston, WV 25314. For inquiries call (304) 558-3500.
