Interview: Eric Nelson

How long have you been living in Charleston, and why did you decide to settle in this city?
I was born and raised in the Capital City through high school. Following 14 years in Virginia for college and a start of professional career I returned approximately 18 years ago because of a business opportunity and the attraction of raising kids in near family and the peaceful surroundings.

How do you find the general vibe of Charleston?

Which season is Charleston at its best?
They all are special, but spring is best due to the budding of trees and plants.

What do you think is Charleston’s biggest attraction?
There is not any single attraction, but many. The openness and the beauty of the surrounding environment, the river and numerous activities around it, Charleston’s proximity to many other places.

How would you describe Charleston to someone who hasn’t been here before?
Warm, friendly, clean, and safe.

What are your top 5 dining places in Charleston?
Edgewood Country Club, Blossom, Fazios, Tidewater, Blues BBQ

What are Charleston’s attractions that every tourists must visit?
Clay Center and Capitol

What are the absolute must-try’s for every visitor in Charleston?
My kids say Ellen’s Ice Cream

What are the cheap thrills that you can enjoy in Charleston?
Kanawha State Forest – biking, hiking, fishing
