Get a taste of the lowcountry at the newly opened Bricks & Barrel in Charleston, WV.
Defined by in house chef Mark Swoope, lowcountry cuisine is seafood-oriented Southern food utilizing Carolina gold rice, corn, and tomatoes. Steaks and seafood take center stage in Brick & Barrels, but the other bestseller is the restaurant’s Chocolate Brick for dessert.
Several bottled variety of beers are on offer, as well as at least 12 beer taps, half of which coming from in-state breweries.
Located in the ParkView Lofts building near the Appalachian Power Park, the restaurant has a cozy feel, despite its former history as a warehouse and staging area for work crews. Its red-orange bricks were preserved and incorporated into the design, and huge barrels create private booths for patrons.
