Piro Pizzeria

19 April 2010 355 views No Comment

Just opened last year, Piro Pizzeria has been a big hit in Charleston, WV. Serving Pittsburgh-style pizza, the dough is homemade and paired with the flavorful sauces and special blend of cheeses. People keep coming back for more pizza, pasta, salads and the pizzeria’s jumbo-sized pepperoni rolls.

Angela Blough uses her grandmother’s recipes, which has been kept in the family for generations. She makes the dough herself, mixing and kneading the ingredients daily at 8 o’clock in the morning. Once the dough has risen, she and her employees take portions to make the dough for their thin-crust pizzas, strombolis, calzones and pepperoni rolls. Servings in the pizzeria are huge: the strombolis, calzones and pepperoni rolls use the same amount of dough as a 12-inch pizza. For those who wish to veer from the usual toppings, Piro Pizzeria offers anchovies and homemade meatballs in their pizza.

Since it opened in August 2009, Piro Pizzeria has gained its regular following. Originally opened only for lunch through dinner, the pizzeria now opens at 7:30am, serving breafast of coffee, muffins and scones.
