The Cross Lanes Branch Library invites budding astronomers and nature lovers to come out to the Breezy Point Observatory on April 8 to see the night sky like you’ve never seen it before.
Located in Camp Virgil Tate, a 30 minute drive from downtown Charleston, the Breezy Point Observatory is home to the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society, and features a rolling-roof observatory that houses a 16″ F-4.5 Newtonian Reflector Telescope with a focal length of 1828 mm, capable of seeing stars, planets and galaxies that may not be easily seen by the naked eye.
This is a free event, and attendees can meet and chat with members of the KVAS and peer through the telescope. Crafts and refreshments will be provided at the lower level of the “Boone” Maxwell Lodge & Conference Center.
Driving directions to the Breezy Point Observatory are available at the KVAS website.
