In a step to encourage children to go outside and explore their local parks, the National Park Trust has organized the National Kids to Parks Day set for tomorrow, May 18, 2013. An event to celebrate this will be hosted by the Charleston Parks and Recreation in Charleston, WV at Magic Island, on the confluence of Elk River into Kanawha River.
Dubbed the “Let’s Move Outside and Play,” this is a free event that features several activities that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The event will kick off with the dedication of the park’s new playground at 9 in the morning, followed by hip hop Tec-style dancing, yoga, and zumba.
Magic Island is open from daylight until dusk.
